Found a new open source ColdFusion CMS this morning - Sava CMS

No, I don't have anything to do with it, but in a Google Alert, I found an entry about Sava CMS, a new open source content management system built on ColdFusion.

Blog entry

Although I heard about it from this press release, I hadn't seen anything about it before that, although I now see that Gary Gilbert blogged about it yesterday.

They seem to be pushing the CMS as a self contained solution. They have an Express version, bundled with Railo and Jetty. I would think they'd bundle Open BlueDragon at some point, although I see they are GPL 2 where as Open BD is GPL 3 (not much of an open source licensing guy).

I haven't had a chance to take a look at it, but I thought I'd blog about it anyway, to get it out there for others to look at.

I also just heard about it and took the opportunity to download and install. The install is mostly manual, which is OK...but hard to swallow after the delightful experience when installing MangoBlog.

The Admin UI looks good so far, but I haven't gotten into it much yet...we'll see how it turns out!

I came across Sava a week or so ago. The install was easy and the environment is straight forward.
The documentation is not bad although they are still working on it.
They are very responsive to questions and I admittedly asked some silly ones.
It loads a default site to give you a few clues to get started. There is even a Fusebox sample sub application in the default site.
I have worked with Far Cry and other CMS apps and I can say this one is well worth a close look.

Anyone else have some more in depth knowledge and experience on this CMS?
Is it capable of doing more than being a blogging engine - can a complete website loaded with dynamic content be based on it?

Hi all,

I downloaded Sava last week and so far I really like it - the Sava developers are very quick to respond to questions in their forum, which is a huge plus. The examples provided work and step-by-step guides provided for multiple-site setup (something i really struggled to understand in FarCry, which I understand is very high-end and super-cool, but alas, it proved to difficult for me to use with multple sites. I ronly need it for smaller sites really, so Sava looks great.

This is not to say it couldn't handle large projects, it definitely looks to be very organized and has all the glam of performance caching and a great admin interface.

Multiple language support coming soon (French and Spanish, German to follow).

@Sebastian: Yes, I believe it is all good to go with your own existing apps etc., you can even integrate some Coldfusion commands within the static text-bits, to include personalisation or load other code within the pure content management parts.

But I am only learning this myself so far, so I can't go into much more depth - this weekend will see more reading up on their site for myself.

Anyway, a big thank you to the Sava guys - excellent start and hopefully continued success!
